Recent Update Log

5.3 Updates

  • Dwarf Beast Tribe quests added in ShB tier as a notable EXP source.
  • Ehll Tou added as Custom Delivery client option.

Previous updates

  • Kai Shirr added as Custom Delivery client option in ShB tier.
  • L70 to L80 section essentially revamped: New Skills & Rotations! 5.2ish was a clusterF. Skills changed TWICE in a short span of time. All is well now!
  • L70+ Gear recommendation:  Yellow Scrip gear is now recommended, for a number of reasons (Mainly, barely need stats for 70 to 80 leveling)

If you’ve been here before and need quick navigation:

[50-60] | [60-64] | [64-70] | [70-80]

So you’re gonna Ramsey it up and be a Culinarian, ey? Get your inventory space ready!

Before you begin…

Where is the Culinarian Guild? How to become a Culinarian? You can become a Culinarian by visiting the Culinarians’ Guild in Limsa. If you have at least L10 in any combat class – you’re good to start cookin’!

Updating your Cooking Gear is quite important if you’re going to be crafting your own leve items. We have a Crafting Gear Guide to help you out on that.

Culinarian Class Quest Item Reference:

CUL 01: Maple Syrup
CUL 05: Grilled Trout
CUL 10: 2x Grilled Dodo
CUL 15: Meat Miq’abob
CUL 20: Dried Plums
CUL 25: Aldgoat Steak
CUL 30: (HQ) Smoked Raptor
CUL 35: (HQ) Ratatouille
CUL 40: (All HQ) Blood Currant Tart, Pastry Fish, Chamomile Tea
CUL 45: (HQ) Dzemael Gratin
CUL 50: (All HQ) Eft Steak, Beef Stew, Trapper’s Quiche, Crowned Pie

Just use the above as a quick reference if completing multiple Culinarian class quests at once.

Levequest Items Discussion?

For Culinarian: Repeatable Leves are extremely worth it! (Save inventory space)

Every tier has 3 kinds of Leves:

  • [1]Single Submit Leves: Levemete & submission are just a short walk from each other.
  • [C]ourier Leves: Levemete is from the [H]ometown, to be submitted to the [L]ocal Levemete.
  • [RC] or Reverse Courier Leves are from the [L]ocal, submitted to [H]ometown.
  • [R]epeatable Leves.

Notes:

  • [1]Single and [3]Repeatable Leves (1 each) are from the [H]ometown, and [L]ocal levemete.
  • [C]ourier leves will always give the Highest EXP per craft, but require a lot of time and travel costs.
  • [3]Repeatable leves will always give the Highest EXP per Leve. If you value your leves a lot or don’t have many left, these are good. But, they are MORE expensive. We will recommend the best [1] and [3] levequest(s) for every tier. Note that this depends on server prices and might not apply to you (Unlikely). We will comment on every tiers [C] levequest but will likely never recommend it. Use [C] levequests at your own discretion!
  • A Precursor item means it requires a fully crafted item AS A MATERIAL.

Ixal Beast Tribe Daily Quests: Bonus Crafting/DoH EXP !

Putting it here to remind or notify you that such a thing exists, but:

I SUGGEST USING THESE ON CRAFTERS L15+ (use on low level if forced)
Since the early levels are quite easy. (But you can unlock it asap)

Starting Quest: A Bad Bladder
NPC & Location: Scarlet at New Gridania (9, 11)
Prerequisite MSQ: Pursuit of the Past

These dailies are best used to push past “bad tiers”, or simply on your highest level non 50 crafter. I suppose you can also use them on crafting classes which are lagging behind for one reason or the other.

If you’re super fresh and have all low level crafters, and happen to unlock it early – you CAN do them now. While I don’t recommend it, I suppose it’s better than them just disappearing!

Culinarian Level 1-15: The early levels

We DO NOT advise using Leves for these low levels. If you really feel like using leves for these tiers:

CUL 1 Leve Recommendation: [H][1] – Grilled Trout
CUL 5 Leve Recommendation: [H][1] – Jack-o’-lantern
CUL 10 Leve Recommendation: [H][1] – Grilled Carp

You can get to CUL 15 in less than an hour if you buy a Company-issued Engineering Scroll. The GC Scrolls can be bought from your GC’s supplier NPC. Culinarian is a bit different. While you “can” complete your early crafting log for fast EXP, we suggest stocking up on important “Ingots” you will need in the future:

Buy the following items:

  •  32x Rocksalt
  • 32x Distilled Water
  • 16x Mineral Water
  • 33x Rye
  • 99x Beehive Chip
  • 49x Maple Sap
  • 132x Sunset Wheat
  • 38x Buffalo Milk

The above Items can be found in the CUL Guild Supplier.

Then Craft these in order (+GC Scroll):

  •  32x Table Salt (Yields almost 2 stacks of Table Salt)
  • 49x Maple Syrup (You’ll be using some for the next step…)
  • 45x Maple Sugar (Made from 15 of the Maple Syrups.. Yields one stack)
  • 33x Rye Flour (Yields 1 stack Rye Flour)
  •  33x Honey (Yields one stack of Honey)
  • 19x Smooth Butter (Yields almost a stack of Smooth Butter)
  • 33x Sunset Wheat Flour (Yields one stack of Sunset Wheat Flour)
  • 16x Pie Dough (Yields nearly one stack of Pie Dough)

It’s up to you on how you want to do this: Quick Synthesis loses a lot of EXP, so you wanna manually craft maybe 5-15 of each item then Quick Synth the rest. The reason for this is to make use of these low level crafts to gain EXP while they’re still relevant. You’ll be using any number of these for as long as you’ll be cooking. Yes, you can buy a few of these from other NPC’s, but might as well maximize the exp now.

With Pie Dough, You might want to craft all of it manually.

While completing the Crafting Log might be “better” in terms of leveling, this is a low-impact, AFK friendly (and inventory space friendly) way. Again, you’ll be using all this stuff anyway.

After completing the shopping list above, activate your scroll and be 15++ quick!

[50-60] | [60-64] | [64-70] | [70-80]

So, you’ve gone full metal and decided to Alchemy it up, ey? This Alchemist Leveling Guide will hopefully make your journey to 60 quick and easy!

First page is very long – use our quick scroll to: Basics | Leveling begins!

Before you begin…

Where is the Alchemist Guild? How to become an Alchemist?
You can become an Alchemist by visiting the Alchemists’ Guild in Ul’dah. If you have at least L10 in any combat class – you’re good to start mixin’!

Ok, so we’re in the middle of updating ALL crafting guides – We recommend the use of a few guides during your leveling process, in varied current state of usefulness:

Alchemist Levequests List: A table featuring all levequests for ALC 01 to 50. (100% updated)

Crafting General Leveling Tips: This guide was made back right after beta. It’s not updated, but it’s missing two key features: Ixal and Challenge Log. (Old but still useful).

Crafting Gear Guide: is still useful, but written a long time ago. It’s messy but contains a great table as to when you can and should update core pieces. (Old guide, kinda messy)

Alchemist Class Quest Item Reference:

ALC 01: Distilled Water
ALC 05: 3x Antidote
ALC 10: 12x Beeswax
ALC 15: Potion of Intelligence, Potion of Dexterity
ALC 20: Engraved Hard Leather Grimoire (Materia Enhanced)
ALC 25: (HQ) Natron
ALC 30: (HQ) 3x Weak Blinding Potion
ALC 35: (HQ) Hi-Ether
ALC 40 :(HQ) 3x Hi-Potion of Strength
ALC 45: (All HQ) Mega-Potion of Intelligence / Mind / Vitality
ALC 50: (HQ) Budding Rosewood Wand (Melded with: Quicktongue III Materia)

Just use the above as a quick reference if completing multiple Alchemist class quests at once. 50 to 60 is found in that segment of the guide.

How to use this guide?

Each listed tier has some self-explanatory sections such as:

  • Next class quest Item required.
  • Relevant Alchemist levequest locations.
  • ALC Levequests items discussion (tier specific).

We will be using a few amount of ‘codes’ here to make your life easier, as long as you understand them.

  • [H] : HOMETOWN which, in ALCs case, is Ul’dah.
  • [L] : LOCAL levemete. This changes every tier.
  • [C] : COURIER LEVE. From [H] to [L].
  • [RC] : REVERSE COURIER. From [L] to [H].
  • [R] : REPEATABLE or a “Triple”.

Basic [H] and [L] leves are the BASELINE for value. [C] and [RC] give more than the basics, but require travel time. [R] gives the most of all, but is a massive time and material sink.

In this guide I will try to recommend the best levequest for each type.

Useful links to have open: ALC Leves List | DoH Gear Guide

Ixal Beast Tribe Daily Quests: Bonus Crafting/DoH EXP !

Putting it here to remind or notify you that such a thing exists, but:

I SUGGEST USING THESE ON CRAFTERS L15+ (use on low level if forced)
Since the early levels are quite easy. (But you can unlock it asap)

Starting Quest: A Bad Bladder

If you’re super fresh and have all low level crafters, and happen to unlock it early – you CAN do them now. While I don’t recommend it, I suppose it’s better than them just disappearing!

Alchemist: the beginning!

[H] 1x Leather Grimoire: NPC BUYABLE MATERIALS (See notes)
[H] 3x Quicksilver: NPC BUYABLE MATERIALS
[C] 3x Growth Formula Alpha: Recommended due to large EXP.
[RC] 1x Maple Wand: Recommended due to large EXP.
[L] 3x Animal Glue: NPC BUYABLE MATERIALS
[L] 3x Antidote: NPC BUYABLE MATERIALS

“What is the Courier, Reverse Courier Cycle?” A courier levequest starts from your Hometown (in ALCs case: Ul’dah) and ends in the local levemete (in this tiers case: Scorpion Crossing). The idea is to get, complete, get, complete in a circle to maximize the EXP of your travel time.

So ALC 01 tier – it’s getting the quest from Ul’dah to submit 3x Growth Formula Alpha in Scorpion Crossing, then taking the reverse courier quest from Scorpion Crossing and then submitting 1x Maple Wand in Ul’dah. This is by the way the fastest+least hassle way to get out of the early tiers.

The other way to spend leves in these low tiers is to “spam the best single leve”. In this tiers case, is to buy materials from the ALC supplier and craft>submit Leather Grimoires in Ul’dah. Why? Speed… If you prefer any of the triple crafts (Quicksilver, Animal Glue, Antidote), for more manual crafting EXP, choose any – they’re all quite similar.

You can of course just randomly grind to level up a bit, too.

“How do I get to Scorpion Crossing!?” It’s a non-aetheryte town located right out of Ul’dah. From Ul’dah aetheryte, go towards the Gate of Sultana and exit to Western Thanalan.

Alchemist 05 to 10

All levequest items below have 100% NPC Buyable Materials.

[H] 3x Eye Drops: Unnotable.
[H] 3x Distilled Water: Recommended, easiest to craft and cheapest.
[C] 1x Whispering Maple Wand: Recommended due to large EXP.
[RC] 1x Maple Picatrix: Recommended due to large EXP.
[L] 3x Beeswax: Unnotable.
[L] 3x Rubber: Unnotable.

Like in any 5 tier, there’s only 2 choices:

The Courier  <-> Reverse Courier cycle: Maple Picatrix isn’t a huge problem (materials from ALC guild vendor), but it does require 2 synthesis (Ink). Whispering Maple Wand, while seemingly a hassle – you can buy the basic Maple Wand and Growth Formula alpha if you don’t wanna make those (from Gridania and Ul’dah Merchant Strip, respectively).  A tiny hassle, but the EXP rewards are huge.

Or the best single: Cheapest and easiest to HQ is Distilled Water. I mean seriously, the mats are so cheap they may as well give it for free.

Alchemist 10 to 15

All levequest items below have 100% NPC Buyable Materials.

[H] 3x Ether: Unnotable
[H] 1x Budding Maple Wand: Avoid
[C] 1x Ash Picatrix: Recommended due to large EXP.
[RC] 1x Roof Tile: Recommended due to large EXP.
[L] 3x Growth Formula Beta: Unnotable
[L] 3x Potion: Recommended.

Like in any 10 tier, there’s only 2 chocies:

The Courier  <-> Reverse Courier cycle: The materials for the Ash Picatrix and Roof Tile are all buyable from the ALC supplier. Picatrix is just a tiny hassle due to crafting the ink. Otherwise, good ‘ol C-RC leves.

Or the best single: Avoid the wand is the only fast rule I have for you here. The others are all similarly chumpy, but if I were to recommend one – Potion. Yep, basic as bones potion. You can buy ready-made Distilled Water from Merchant Strip. Or you can quicksynth ‘em.

Summary of this chunk

Courier / Reverse Courier is best in the early tiers:

Level 1:  Growth Formula Alpha / Maple Wand [Scorpion Crossing] Level 5: Whispering Maple Wand / Maple Picatrix [Scorpion Crossing] Level 10:  Ash Picatrix / 3x Roof Tile [Horizon]

Of course, we also can recommend the best singles:

ALC 1 Leve Recommendation: [H][1] – Leather Grimoire
ALC 5 Leve Recommendation: [H][1] – Distilled Water
ALC 10 Leve Recommendation: [H][1] – Potion

Armorsmithing 0 to 5: The beginning!

[H] 1x Bronze Skillet: NPC BUYABLE MATERIALS
[H] 3x Bronze Ingot: NPC BUYABLE MATERIALS
[C] 3x Bronze Plate: Recommended due to large EXP.
[RC] 1x Bronze Alembic: Recommended due to large EXP.
[L] 1x Bronze Hoplon: NPC BUYABLE MATERIALS
[L] 1x Bronze Rivets: NPC BUYABLE MATERIALS

“What is the Courier, Reverse Courier Cycle?”
A courier levequest starts from your Hometown (in ARMs case: Limsa) and ends in the local levemete (in this tiers case Red Rooster Stead). The idea is to get, complete, get, complete in a circle to maximize the EXP of your travel time.

So ARM 01 tier – it’s getting the quest from Limsa to submit 3x Bronze Plate in Red Rooster Stead, then taking the reverse courier quest from Red Rooster Stead and then submitting 1x Bronze Alembic in Limsa. This is one of the best ways to get out of the early tiers.

“How do I get to Red Rooster Stead!?”
It’s a non-aetheryte town outside Limsa. Just click on the Limsa Aetheryte, choose Tempest Gate (Lower La Noscea) then walk towards Red Rooster .

The other way to spend leves in these low tiers is to “spam the best single leve”. In this tiers case, is to buy materials from the ARM supplier and craft>submit Bronze Rivets in Limsa.

ARM is a bit special… You can begin your early levels (and subsequently the beginning of every tier) by crafting as many Bronze Ingot/Rings/Rivets and Plates as soon as they’re available to craft. Even quick synthing 20-99 of each shouldn’t be too expensive. This method is great to preserve your much needed levequests and should be taken advantage of in this early phase (for a tiny trade off in gil). In case you’ll ignore this little section, don’t worry – I’ll be sure to repeat myself in future tiers, hehe.

Like I said, you can do this much easier/lazier if you buy completed Bronze Ingots from Limsa Lower Decks (8,11).

Armorsmith 05 to 10

All levequest items below have 100% NPC Buyable Materials.

[H] 1x Bronze Barbut: Unnotable.
[H] 1x Bronze Haubergeon: Unnotable.
[C] 1x Bronze Sallet: Recommended.
[RC] 1x Bronze Chain Coif: Recommended.
[L] Bronze Scutum: Unnotable.
[L] Bronze Sollerets: Recommended.

Again, reminding you about my comment about Ingots/Rings/Rivets/Plates from previous tier.

Courier  <-> Reverse Courier cycle: Nothing noteworthy here, again, the mats are all obtainable from ARM supplier.

Or the best single: While the cost between the choices on singles is irrelevant, Bronze Sollerets win in the least hassle department.

Armorsmith 10 to 15

All levequest items below have 100% NPC Buyable Materials.

[H] 1x Iron Skillet: Unnotable
[H] 1x Bronze Plate Belt: Unnotable
[C] 1x Bronze Sabatons: Recommended.
[RC] 1x Bronze Gauntlets: Recommended.
[L] 1x Brass Alembic: Unnotable
[L] 1x Amateur’s Skillet: Recommended.

Again, reminding you about my comment about Ingots/Rings/Rivets/Plates from previous tier.

Courier  <-> Reverse Courier cycle: Nothing notable about the items here… Both of them have materials that are available from the ARM Supplier.

Or the best single: Amateur’s Skillet is the easiest to craft and least hassle amongst the bunch here. While it doesn’t really matter which single you choose here, Skillet definitely wins by a few inches.

Summary of this chunk

Courier / Reverse Courier is best in early tiers

Level 1: Bronze Plate [Limsa] / Bronze Alembic [Red Rooster Stead] Level 5: Bronze Sallet [Limsa] / Bronze Chain Coif [Red Rooster Stead] Level 10:  Bronze Sabatons [Limsa] / Bronze Gauntlets [Swiftperch]

Of course, we also can recommend the best singles:

ARM 1 Leve Recommendation: [H][1] – Bronze Skillet
ARM 5 Leve Recommendation: [H][1] – Bronze Barbut
ARM 10 Leve Recommendation: [H][1] – Iron Skillet

Levequest Items Discussion?

Every tier has 3 kinds of Leves:

  • [1]Single Submit Leves: Levemete & submission are just a short walk from each other.
  • [C]ourier Leves: Levemete is from the [H]ometown, to be submitted to the [L]ocal Levemete.
  • [R]epeatable Leves.

Notes: [1]Single and [3]Repeatable Leves (1 each) are from the [H]ometown, and [L]ocal levemete. [C]ourier leves will always give the Highest EXP per craft, but require alot of time, and travel costs. [3]epeatable leves will always give the Highest EXP per Leve. If you value your leves alot or don’t have many left, these are good. But, they are thrice as expensive. We will recommend the best [1] and [3] levequest(s) for every tier. Note that this depends on server prices and might not apply to you (Unlikely). We will comment on every tiers [C] levequest but will likely never recommend it. Use [C] levequests at your own discretion! Also, a Precursor item means it requires a fully crafted item AS A MATERIAL.

Carpenter Level 1-15: The early levels

Using Courier / Reverse Courier is the most efficient use of leves in these tiers:

Level 1:  Maple Clogs / 3x Maple Lumber [The Bannock] Level 5: Maple Crook / Maple Cane [The Bannock] Level 10:  3x Ash Lumber / Square Ash Shield [Bentbranch Meadows]

We DO NOT advise using “REGULAR” leves for these low levels. If you really feel like using these leves for these tiers:

CRP 1 Leve Recommendation: [H][1] – Maple Patterns
CRP 5 Leve Recommendation: [H][1] – Ash Macuahuitl
CRP 10 Leve Recommendation: [H][1] – Ash Radical

Company-issue Engineering Scroll is great for when you wanna sit down and craft. The GC Scrolls These can be bought from your GC’s supplier NPC.
