CRP Leveling Guide 70-80

MIN & BTN Leveling Guides updated. Other notes...

Botanist Leveling to 90, as well as Miner Leveling to 90 are updated for the Endwalker tier. Older tiers needs some fixing, although I modernized what I could quickly – I placed the important notes on the top of the aforementioned guides reflecting the major things that you need to take note of.

I will post a personal update soon, for those that are curious…

ShB 5.3 UPDATED! Dwarf Beast Tribe and Ehll Tou

Recent Update Log

5.3 Updates

  • Dwarf Beast Tribe quests added in ShB tier as a notable EXP source.
  • Ehll Tou added as Custom Delivery client option.

Previous updates

  • Kai Shirr added as Custom Delivery client option in ShB tier.
  • L70 to L80 section essentially revamped: New Skills & Rotations! 5.2ish was a clusterF. Skills changed TWICE in a short span of time. All is well now!
  • L70+ Gear recommendation:  Yellow Scrip gear is now recommended, for a number of reasons (Mainly, barely need stats for 70 to 80 leveling)

Carpenter Leveling Guide – Navigation:
[pre 50] | [50-60] | [60-70] | [70-80]

So yer back for the Shadowbringers tier, getting up to Carpenter L80! No point mucking around with introductions – let’s get right to it!

L70 to L80 DoH Beast Tribe quests: Dwarf

5.3 introduced the Dwarf Beast Tribe, which is a very welcome form of “free and easy” EXP, while getting some cool cosmetic items to boot.

Unlocking Dwarf Beast Tribe

Here’s some basics on how to unlock Dwarf Beast Tribe.

  • Location: Lakeland (9, 13)
  • Quest Name: It’s Dwarfin’ Time
  • NPC: Affable Townsdwarf
  • L70+ Disciple of the Hand

Other unlocking requirements pretty much sum up to “the blue dwarf quests in this area”. Formally, it requires “Ronitt to the Rescue”, which requires “Wright for the Job” and “Learning to Lali-Ho”, and so on. If you can’t see the quest, then knock out the blue quests around the area.

I place this Beast Tribe reminder very far up this guide not only because it’s a mid-patch addition, but also because it’s such a help to push past the dreaded “Dead Zone”. It remains a great source of EXP at any point until you that to hit L80!

Carpenter L70 to L71 – The Deadzone

The first level of any new tier is a little brutal – and hard for me to account for since everyone has different stats coming in. The deadzone is caused by having subpar gear, and how it affects your possible activities to get past it. Fixing up your gear – getting Scrip gear – should be your highest priority at L70, as it will help ALL YOUR CRAFTERS push past the deadzone, and this gear is GOOD UNTIL LEVEL 80!

Suit up - Get Scrip gear ASAP

As mentioned above. It is SUPER VALUE to get this gear as it’s useful to you up until leveling to 80, and usable by all classes. Do Custom Deliveries to get scrip!

L70 to 71 Deadzone Rotation 80 Durability

This rotation needs 365 CP – buy Handking accessories (or any cheap ones) and/or food buffs to reach that. It’s meant to accomodate all sorts of people entering the SHB tier (with likely lower CP). Feel free to upgrade this rotation if you have more stats.

Rotation Notes

As you can see, the amount of synthesis you need here is brutal – the debuff for trying L71 as L70 is huge. It’s called the deadzone for a reason.

Also, these contain the anti-poor RNG Tricks of the Trade – which prevents your Byregot from landing on poor at all times.

The rotations are somewhat long, 2-button, and not even 100% – but that’s the nature of the deadzone for you! Let’s get out of it ASAP!

TLDR: Updating your gear is key to getting out of the deadzone, and when you do – you can use this rotation to help push out of it.

Beating the Deadzone: Sources of EXP

Here we outline the practical (or hopefully practical) sources of EXP to help muscle through this tough stretch. While many of these do not require the scrip gear mentioned above (Custom Deliveries, and easier tier GC Submissions), they will certainly help with some other activities (IE Grinding, making your own levequest items).

CUSTOM DELIVERIES!!!

Custom Deliveries.

Ok, this is valuetown right here and one of the prime methods to get out of the deadzone – BUT IT RESETS WEEKLY, so choose wisely. Personally, I didn’t use this on any class above 71 until all were 71 or more. You also get large amounts of scrip to update your gear with!

5.3 update: Ehll Tou from The Firmament joins Kai Shirr from Eulmore, as both the L70+ ShB Custom Delivery clients, so they’re your best option for maximum rewards at this point. Try to use all your allowances between them if you’re leveling 70 to 80.

You have 12 deliveries a week spread between:

  • Kai Shirr in Eulmore
  • Ehll Tou in The Firmament
  • Zhloe Alpaioh and Adkiragh in Idyllshire
  • Mnaago in Rhalgr’s Reach
  • Kurenai in Ruby Sea

Note that these 12 allowances are shared between ALL DOH/DOL classes.

Daily GC Submission

From here, and into the untold ages to come, the daily GC submission is VALUE. It’s, on average, worth more than the usual levequest. The starred entries are too massive to even describe.

Even if you can’t make these yourselves, check the MB for deals, or buy them straight up NQ from NPC’s if you’re desperate.

To check these, click CTRL+U (default) > Next Mission Allowance.

Levequests!?

Levequests are, of course, the main method of EXP gain as always – If you upgraded your gear, and use the rotation above (IDEALLY WITH 1 HQ MATERIAL TO PUSH FOR 100%) you can pretty reliably make them yourself.

One trick is to grind on 40 Durability “ingots”, and
use the HQ’s for your 80 Durability crafts!

If you’re lazy or don’t have the gear – you’re either forced to buy from the MB or NPC’s. This feels really bad, and if you’re on a budget this is not the way to go. Hopefully, you find some good deals!

If you CAN make stuff then the deadzone ain’t so dead after all.

Grinding

Use Revised Engineering Manuals!

Can be pretty okay, honestly! You don’t need to hit HQ! Just get the best quality you can on any “ingot type” craft, for future use on levequest items or your stockpile.

In the case of Carpenter L70, you can try out White Oak Lumbers.

One trick is to grind on 40 Durability “ingots”, and
use the HQ’s for your 80 Durability crafts!

And finally one more source of EXP worth mentioning in its own segment…

Unlock Crystarium Deliveries “Class Quests”

This is a new thing (not to be confused with custom deliveries), that acts like a shared class quest between certain classes. In the case of Carpenter, that’s shared with Weaver and Leatherworker in the Facet of Crafting.

UnlockingHow does it Work?

It’s a 2 quest process to unlock this.

  • 1st Quest: The Crystalline Mean (L70) – Area: The Crystarium
  • Requires: MSQ “The Crystarium’s Resolve (L72)”.
  • 2nd Quest: Cherished Memories (L70) – Area: The Crystarium
  • Requires: The Crystalline Mean (the 1st quest listed above)

You can submit SIX ITEMS PER TIER PER FACET – shared between your facetmates. So try to save them up to burst through shitty tiers.

After six submissions your esteem goes up and they’re gonna ask for a new set of six items at L73, 75, and 78.

In the case of CRP 70, I’d suggest simply splitting it up between the shared classes, meaning 2 each for Carpenter, Weaver, and Leatherworker.

Carpenter L70 Levequests

I’ll put the levequest table here, but I’ll repeat it in the next segment with complete discussion (I’ll put a basic recommendation here) – since not all L70 crafters will be able to reliably make it themselves…

Again, discussion for these is in the next major segment, L71.

Hopefully the Deadzone wont stress you out too much. There’s quite a few ways to push past it, but it definitely is one of the more difficult parts of leveling in a new tier, Shadowbringers to L80 is no exception.

Carpenter L71 to 72

A lot goes on in this level so bear with me even if it’s a bit lengthy. A majority of your setup ALL THE WAY UNTIL L80 CRP happens here so it’s worth it. Most noteworthy are stat-check (gear update) and a new rotation that works very well until L80!

CRP L71 GEAR UPDATE

This gear update is similar to the L70 one. You need to get all the L70 Scrip armor, and as many accessories as you need to reach the CP requirements (370~).

Scrip Gear

This is merely a copy of the L70 gear update. If you didn’t update or incompletely updated your gear at L70, then you MUST do it now. Of course, if you have any gear that beats this – go for that instead.

Mainhand and Body are MANDATORY – the rest can be substituted for L71 crafted if you like (more notes in the next tab)

No Scrip for Scrip Gear?

Then simply substitute any crafted L71 gear in their place. Generally speaking not all pieces are equal – you definitely prefer scrip in some places. Some pieces have better crafted (accessories) but are largely unnecessary. Consider these only if you’re short on scrip.

TLDR: Only get and meld crafted L71 gear IF YOU HAVE NO SCRIP,
Or rather spend GIL instead of scrip.

CRP L71 ROTATION UPDATE: 80 DURABILITY

The “L71 Mahiko San Synthesis: God’s Touch ™ – 80 Durability” is a ONE BUTTON macro (so it’s thankfully short), while being ABSOLUTE TRUE 100% (baits poor procs with Tricks of the Trade) while also being BUFFLESS.

CRP L70 Levequest Discussion

White Oak Lumber – This is what I call a “PDO” Levequest. If you’re either (or a combination of) POOR, DESPERATE, or OVERCAPPED on leves – this is the best bet. If you’re swimming in leves and wanna use some up quickly to get below 100 – this is the kind of levequest for that. You can even gain gil by submitting it if the lumbers’ cheap!

White Oak Fishing Rod VS White Oak Necklace  –  These two are very close. If the price or effort to gather the mats are very near, then I would go for the White Oak Necklace as it’s a triple levequest! The EXP difference isn’t so big so why not save a few leves? I would need a VERY compelling reason NOT to choose the triple though…

Final TLDR: White Oak Necklace > White Oak Fishing Rod. White Oak Lumber only if POOR, DESPERATE, or OVERCAPPED.

What to do in this tier?

I started off grinding on White Oak Lumbers, and made my own crafting offhands. After that I used the triple leve – White Oak Necklace until I was 72.

Don’t be afraid to grind on White Oak Lumbers, it’s used on quite a few levequest items, and generally speaking the “first tier” is always usable by crafters leveling up.

Carpenter L72 to 74

There’s a rotation upgrade at 73, which I talk about below the levequest discussion.

CRP L70 Levequest Discussion

All of these three levequest are VERY VERY SIMILAR in materials. So it’s up to the cost of the stuff on the day you’re doing this on your server!

BUT – generally speaking, since all are very similar – the TRIPLE LEVEQUEST (Applewood Cane) SHINES THROUGH, because you have the OPTION to save leves, right?

TLDR: Applewood Cane > Applewood Longbow (is probably cheaper, on average?) > Applewood Spear. It’s highly likely that on any given day, the Spear would be the suckiest leve to go for.

L73 Rotation Upgrade (40 & 80 DUR)

These rotations are TECHNICALLY optional. But they are SHORTER – saves time.  More importantly completes virtually any item 100% HQ until leveling to 80 (read notes for specifics). There’s no point to hold off upgrading rotation now… It’s also rated for higher L76 / L78 items.

What to do in this tier?

I made a bit of a stockpile for Miracle Apple Lumber, and spammed the Applewood Cane levequest (Understaffed) until I hit 74.

Miracle Apple Lumber is great; can’t go wrong with a little extra because the triple levequest of this tier is good enough to be a consideration for next tier…

There’s a new facet delivery at level 73, which I would personally save for WVR (or LTW), as CRP is pretty forgiving to level.

White Ash Lumber – another good ‘ol PDO leve (Only if POOR, DESPERATE, or OVERCAPPED). It serves a purpose for many! Cheap (you may even GAIN money), but low EXP.

White Ash Bracelet leve will almost always be better than the White Ash Grinding Wheel. Unless the price is unbelievably in favor for the wheel, the very fact Bracelets are triples and the materials are similar (actually, the Bracelet contains an old-world thread! Versus the Wheels HM Whetstone), there’s almost no reason to go for the wheels.

TLDR: White Ash Bracelet spam > White Ash Lumber if PDO >>> White Ash Grinding Wheel.

What to do in this tier?

I made a bit of White Ash Lumber and proceeded with the White Ash Bracelet spamming. The White Ash Bracelet leve felt extremely good to spam, I don’t know why…

At 75 there’s a new facet delivery, which I didn’t do on CRP. I used all of them for WVR, but you can use ’em for LTW as well.

CRP L76 Levequest Discussion

Sandteak Longbow is miles ahead here… It’s a TRIPLE! The materials aren’t so bad compared to the singles… it gives significantly more EXP… There would be no reason for me to choose the others but..

Sandteak Spinning Wheel >>> Sandteak Rod. If you MUST choose a single, for whatever reason, I would be hard pressed to ever pick the rod levequest! The extra materials seem to be a hassle. I cannot imagine it would ever beat the pricing on the wheel levequest..

TLDR: Sandteak Longbow >>> Sandteak Spinning Wheel >>> Sandteak Rod

What to do in this tier?

I made a BUNCH of Sandteak Lumber as I even used the Longbow levequest in the 78 tier. Spam the aforementioned triple leve until you reach 78 (or beyond…)

As always, the facet delivery quest here was spent on WVR, as CRP has many options. You can use it on LTW too if you feel like it.

CRP L78 Levequest Discussion

These materials have chance to be a lot more expensive than the previous tier’s Sandteak Longbow leve materials: THIS IS A PERFECT EXAMPLE OF GAINING MEGA VALUE EVEN WHILE USING A LOWER TIER LEVEQUEST.

Dwarven Lignum Cane is a single leve with a bunch of materials, and it gives only slightly more than a single submission of the previous tier Sandteak Longbow Triple. For that reason alone I wouldn’t even consider this…

Lignum Vitae Ring is a PDO leve. It may not look like it, but it is. The EXP gain is pretty small, but definitely budget friendly – HOWEVER the Lignum Vitae Earrings TRIPLE LEVEQUEST is very comparable in price, and gives a fair but more EXP!

(previous tier) >> Lignum Vitae Earrings > Lignum Vitae Ring (PDO) >>> Dwarven Lignum Cane

Yeah, the best levequest this tier is the previous tiers Sandteak Longbow, lol. But again, the final responsibility for price checking varies day to day, server to server!

What to do in this tier?

Nothing new here. I made a bunch of Lignum Vitae Lumber, and I went for a few of the earring submits, then realized that the previous tier Sandteak Longbow just completely smashes this tiers leves.

Keep in mind that this is very very dependent on the price of Sandteak vs Lignum Vitae wood.

L80+ Carpenter, What next?

Congratulations! Well, that’s it for the Shadowbringers tier. I have yet to decide if I will revive the end-game guides, lets see. But for now enjoy your L80 Carpenter and go level your other classes!!!

  1. Hey, thanks so much for the guides. Even the older, slightly outdated portions on the crafting guides have helped me speed level tremendously after I followed the MIN and BTN ones.

On this one, I noticed that you were stating a minor update to your 78 – 80 macro but I don’t see the adjustment noted. Was there an error in creating the box?

  2. Hey, thanks for the great guide! Quick thing I noticed while leveling Carpenter, the Link to 64-70 is wrong and links to page 7 (70-80) instead of page 6 (64-70). Both at the top and bottom navigation. Might want to look into that :)

  3. Continue to do the SINGLE Lv. 30 Walnut Macuahuitl leve even after Lv. 35 instead of the TRIPLE leve.
It makes no sense to submit 3x for 20,000 exp instead of 49k for each one, and double that for HQ.
Yeah you’ll have to TP back and forth but that only takes a minute each time.
Went from 30-40 in about a half hour this way.

  4. I just want to point out that from 50-60 some of the best exp you can get is from the moogle daily quests. It cost zero mats as they are provided with the quests and the quests are extremely quick and super easy to complete.

  5. First off love ffxivguild guides , been using for years :) thank you
…i just grind all crafts 1-50 (again lol) and i noticed that all the leves in them set lvls only
offer 3 types now not 5 , i did all 3 types to see if i would get a new leve and nope same 3
may be something to look into ,i did buy some stuff on MB (HQ) just to see i could not get the leve for that item to come about

    1. hmmmm… There should be 3 from the local levemete (area depends on level and class), and another 3 from the hometown (Limsa, Grid or Uldah – depending on class). lemme know if this still confuses you

  6. most of this stuff atleast since 4.0 u can buy from vendors and hand in for still very good xp if your struggling to gather or cant hq anyways or just dont have the time :)

    1. If you paid attention to the guide, you’d notice that the way the list works is that it shows you where to deliver, and where to pick the leve up. It’s listed as Costa del Sol | Gridania because the leve is picked up in Gridania and delivered in Costa del Sol. It would have been pointed out and corrected already if it was a mistake considering how long that’s been relevant, the old content guides weren’t written in 2017.

  7. I just noticed for the level 50 levequests it says the cedar lumber one takes 5, but it actually takes 3.

    1. after finishing with ARM 50 to 60 (tonight) my next goal is to update all 01-50 DOH and DOL guides.

The shopping list is something I’m really iffy about. I’ll think and look into it as to how it can be made better or if there’s something else I can do about it.

There are many things to consider, but mainly formatting. I’ll try my best.

  8. um for the walnut Macuahuitl, if you hand in the triple exchange leve you only get under 20k exp, where if u hand them in one at a time in costa del sol u get 49k exp for each one you hand in…….

    1. Except that if you’re turning in HQ items, which should be priority when doing leves the Courier caps at 98k(49k x 2 for HQ) per leve while the triple maxes at 117.6k per leve(19.6k x 2 for HQ + option to turn in twice more for a total of ((19.6k x 2) x 3)).

Triple is the better option between the two if you’re mainly concerned about exp per leve. Less travel time as well.

      1. Actually no, the triple really isn’t. In the time it takes to craft NINE items to gain a measly 20k, barely 20% bonus of the ONE item) You could turn in ALL 9 singles. Just set one as favored, one as free. Cost of crystals, effort of mats, everything.. not worth it. I’m low on Leves and I STILL won’t touch triples. I prefer making a quick HQ macro and doing all 9 turn ins within 5min.

      2. Exp per leve, maybe. But 20% more exp for up to 9x the cost. (3×3 items Vs 1 Item)

This guide (and most on this site) are horribly outdated since the nerfing of triple turn-ins and the buffing of single/couriers.

    2. I have to agree with this. The level 30 leve for the Walnut Macuahuitl is the way to go. 98000 xp for 1 HQ item beats 117600 for 9 of the same HQ item. It may cost you leves, but it’s well worth for time and money you’ll save from having to craft less.

Also, to make the trip easier, go ahead and make Costa del Sol and New Gridania favored destinations. It’ll cut down on the teleporting costs, which comes out to over 1000 gil per round trip without favored destination.

      1. Depends if you are trying to power level several crafts in a short amount of time, without factoring in grinding which takes forever. You will burn through roughly 60 Leves using HQ items. Triples saves you several days of waiting for allowances.

      2. Having tried this last night, the level 30 single turn in will carry you all the way to 50. It is nuts!

The triple, on the other hand, requires vastly more effort and resources for marginal benefit.
