FFXIV Botanist Leveling Guide (L90 Endwalker UPDATED)

Shadowbringers Updated! Level up Botany Quickly 01 to 80! Recommended Leves? Botany Quests Items? Stop wasting time! Power Level your Botanist!

MIN & BTN Leveling Guides updated. Other notes...

Botanist Leveling to 90, as well as Miner Leveling to 90 are updated for the Endwalker tier. Older tiers needs some fixing, although I modernized what I could quickly – I placed the important notes on the top of the aforementioned guides reflecting the major things that you need to take note of.

I will post a personal update soon, for those that are curious…

Endwalker tier COMPLETELY UPDATED. At older parts of guide? OPEN THIS

Finally, the L80 to L90 portion of the BTN/MIN Leveling Guides are 100% complete and current. The older parts, however… (GEAR UPDATES per tier are most important)

While I will update these ASAP (promise, hehe).
Here’s the important banger notes:

GEAR UPDATES? Any time I mention gear updates in the lower tiers, (except 0 to 60), IGNORE IT AND BUY SCRIP TIER GEAR INSTEAD.

A Realm Reborn Gear Scrip gear? NO SCRIP, my notes are still pretty valid.
Heavensward L50 Scrip gear?
NO SCRIP, my notes are still pretty valid.
Stormblood L60 Scrip gear: Augmented Keep tier IL200
Shadowbringers L70 Scrip gear: Landking tier IL350 (Offhand from L330)
Endwalker L50 Scrip gear: Landsaint –  Guide already reflects this.

All of these upgrades are “good” until the end of their tier.
Get scrip by: Custom Deliveries and Collectables.

COLLECTABLES? Not only did the rotation / skill names change TWICE since SHB into EW, the entire System was overhauled pre-EW. Instead of rotating nodes with normal names, it’s SET NON-ROTATING RAREFIED materials. The rotation is also different, but somehow simpler. I’ll update a universal DoL Collectable / Rotation guide for this, instead of repeating myself 100 times.

TLDR: The old “everyday it changes” is OUT. Rarefied “set-in-stone” is in! Ignore mentions of OLD ROTATIONS AND SKILLS. I’ll remedy this ASAP

Endwalker tier is, of course, updated in this regard.

BEAST TRIBES? Each tier has a beast tribe you can use to level up, which I didn’t seem to note as I always blast through DoL super early… These are decent sources of EXP while also giving you some neat items.

A Realm Reborn: Ixal (DoL and DoH)
Heavensward: Moogle (DoL and DoH)
Stormblood: Namazu (DoL and DoH)
Shadowbringers: Qitari (DoL only)
Endwalker: Omicron (DoL only) –  Guide already reflects this.

Please click on and read the above clicky box if you're leveling 01 to 79.

First of all, you might want to check out our Gathering General FAQ, and Botany General FAQ before you begin. All good? Let’s go.

Before you begin…

For those who haven’t even unlocked the botany class: The Botanist Guild is in Gridania (6,8).

Familiarize yourself with gaining EXP most efficiently! We have a Gathering General Leveling Guide for this. Key points are: Choosing the right levequests (ones with evaluation can potentially give insane EXP), keeping key pieces of gear up to date (for getting maximum EXP per node), and making the most out of every node (using skills properly).

Our Gathering Gear Guide is useful to have around when leveling your botanist!

Regarding Botany Class Quest Items, it’s ideal to farm for them BEFORE you hit the next quest. (For example, farm 99 Crow Feather before you reach Level 10). As a quick reference, we will put all items needed here (they are mentioned again in more detail on every section).

Our Botany Node / Material Locations Guide will help you with this, and when looking for specific items.

First of all, you might want to check out our Gathering General FAQ, and Mining General FAQ before you begin. Already familiar? Let’s get to it.

Before you begin…

For those who haven’t even unlocked the mining class: The Miner’s Guild is in Ul’dah.

Make sure you know all about gaining EXP most efficiently. We have a Gathering General Leveling Guide for this. Key points are: Choosing the right levequests (ones with evaluation can potentially give insane EXP), keeping key pieces of gear up to date (for getting maximum EXP per node), and making the most out of every node (using skills properly).

Our Gathering Gear Guide is something you should keep open while leveling up.

Regarding Mining Class Quest Items, it’s ideal to farm for them BEFORE you hit the next quest. (For example, farm Wyvern Obsidian while you’re level 26-29). As a quick reference, we will put all items needed here (they are mentioned again in more detail on every section).

Mining Quest Level 5: 50 Bone Chips

Level 5 Mining Levequests: Ul’dah Adventurers’ Guild & Scorpions Crossing.

Where to find Bone Chips? You can complete both of these quests in one go, to save time.  So make sure you have both sets of items ready before you return to Adalberta (10 Copper Ores and 50 Bone Chips). If you’re lazy you can also buy this from tradecraft merchant NPC’s (not recommended).

Level 5 Node Locations Unlocked: Central Thanalan (Four Sisters, Stonesthrow) Western Thanalan (Gate of the Sultana)

Mining Level 6-10

Mining Quest Level 10: 99 Obsidian
Level 5 Mining Levequests:
Ul’dah Adventurers Guild & Scorpions Crossing.
Level 10 Mining Levequests:
Western Thanalan Horizon.

Where to find Obsidian? Yup, 99 Obsidian. Get used to this. You can find Obsidian in Western Thanalan (The East Hammer). Again, you can buy this from NPC’s but I wouldn’t advise it.

While 99 Obsidian may seem pretty grindy, getting stacks of materials is something you should get used to. IF Grinding: farm everything equally, except Sunstone.

Base Classes Unlocking, Requirements & Tips

ALMOST ALL base classes (WITH THE NOTABLE EXCEPTION OF ROGUE), can be accessed as you create your character, as you spawn into this world! Here’s a quick table of base classes (click on the box below), and where to unlock them.

ALL OF THE BASE CLASSES
seem to have ditched the old requirements to unlock..?
You only need Level 10 in your original base class?

Rogue is a little different. It’s the only base class you cannot START THE GAME WITH. So any new player aspiring to be a Rogue (and eventually Ninja) would be best served by choosing a starter base class that spawns in Limsa, either Arcanist or Marauder. But honestly, it doesn’t make much of a difference.

Astrologian Unlocking, Requirements & Tips

Here’s a quick summary on unlocking Astrologian.

  • Quest: Stairway to the Heavens
  • Location: The Pillars (15,10)
  • NPC:
  • Requirements: Level 50 DoW or DoM
  • Aetheryte -> Aethernet:

New players wanting to play AST asap will have to take a bit of a detour. The requirements are having a disciple or magic or war at level 50. So you might as well level up a healer. Start the game as Conjurer (into White Mage), or Arcanist (into Scholar).

The sad part is Astrologian starts at L30. Ouch.

Bard Unlocking, Requirements & Tips

Here’s a quick summary on unlocking Bard.

  • Quest: A Song of Bards and Bowmen
  • Location: New Gridania (15,11)
  • NPC:
  • Requirements: Level 30 Archer (ARC), and all class quests.
  • Aetheryte -> Aethernet: New Gridania -> Archers Guild

Being part of the original roster of Jobs, new players aspiring to play BRD have it easy. Simply start the game as an Archer, and you’ll be well on your way to being a Bard!

Black Mage Unlocking, Requirements & Tips

Here’s a quick summary on unlocking Black Mage.

  • Quest: Taking the Black
  • Location: Uldah – Steps of Nald (7,12)
  • NPC:
  • Requirements: Level 30 Thaumaturge (THM), and all class quests.
  • Aetheryte -> Aethernet:

As one of the original Jobs, new players wanting to blow up the world with BLM simply have to start the game as Thaumaturge, and you’ll be burning your path to Black Mage in no time.

Blue Mage Unlocking, Requirements & Tips

WARNING: MEME TIER JOB. PLEASE READ

Here’s a quick summary on unlocking Blue Mage.

  • Quest: Out of the Blue
  • Location: Limsa Lower Decks (10,11)
  • NPC: Zealous Leatherjacket
  • Requirements: Level 50 DoW or DoM
  • Aetheryte -> Aethernet:

HOLD IT! BEFORE YOU HAVE DELUSIONS OF GRANDEUR ABOUT YOUR CARREER AS A BLUE MAGE – BLU is the first “Limited Job” which means quite a bit IT DOES NOT REACH MAX LEVEL! So hold your horses. Sadly you have to choose something else for a serious path.

It’s meant to be a fun sidejob which has a completely different progression path and goals from your typical combat jobs. Currently, Blue Mage is a purely “for fun” kinda job… I suppose…

Dancer Unlocking, Requirements & Tips

Here’s a quick summary on unlocking Dancer.

  • Quest: Shall We Dance
  • Location: Limsa Lower Decks (9,12)
  • NPC: Eager Lominsan
  • Requirements: Level 60 DoW or DoM
  • Aetheryte -> Aethernet: Lower Decks Aetheryte straight up… it’s near.

As one of the Shadowbringer Jobs, Dancer requires you have a level 60 disciple or war or magic to unlock. So new players have a bit of a journey ahead before they get to shake dat booty.

Technically the quickest way to level up to 60 is by taking advantage of tank or healer queues, but I would highly advise newer players to play a similar role – so starting from Archer into Bard should get you in rhythm.

Dark Knight Unlocking, Requirements & Tips

Here’s a quick summary on unlocking Dark Knight.

  • Quest: Our End
  • Location: The Pillars (13,8)
  • NPC:
  • Requirements: Level 50 DoW or DoM
  • Aetheryte -> Aethernet:

New players wanting to play DRK asap will have to wait a bit. You need a Level 50 disciple of magic or war to unlock Dark Knight. My advice is to get used to tanking, and start the game as Gladiator (into Paladin), or Marauder (into Warrior).

Sadly, Dark Knight is one of three jobs that “backtrack” in level, starting out their journey at Level 30. Oof.

Dragoon Unlocking, Requirements & Tips

Here’s a quick summary on unlocking Dragoon.

  • Quest: Eye of the Dragon
  • Location: Old Gridania (14,5)
  • NPC:
  • Requirements: Level 30 Lancer (LNC), and all class quests.
  • Aetheryte -> Aethernet:

New players attracted by the flashiness of DRG are in luck – it’s one of the original jobs so starting the game out as Lancer (LNC) will “point” you in the right direction.

Gunbreaker Unlocking, Requirements & Tips

Here’s a quick summary on unlocking Gunbreaker.

  • Quest: The Makings of a Gunbreaker
  • Location: New Gridania (11,11)
  • NPC: Gods’ Quiver bow
  • Requirements: Level 60 DoW or DoM
  • Aetheryte -> Aethernet: New Gridania straight up. Near aetheryte.

New players who wanna squall it up as GNB will have to put in some work first. You need an L60 combat class of any other kind. I highly recommend picking something of the same role though. So Gladiator into Paladin, or Marauder into Warrior are your best bets.

Gunbreaker starts at L60 so there’s no real time lost there.

Machinist Unlocking, Requirements & Tips

Here’s a quick summary on unlocking Machinist.

  • Quest: Savior of Skysteel
  • Location: Foundation (8,10)
  • NPC:
  • Requirements: Level 50 DoW or DoM
  • Aetheryte -> Aethernet:

New players who want to pile it in with the bots as MCH are in for a bit of work… You need an L50 combat class, which technically is easiest reached by a tank or healer.

HOWEVER, I will always recommend another class of the same role so Archer (ARC) into Bard (BRD) would be my shot at a recommendation.

Sadly, Machinist is one of three classes that backtrack their level – starting out as a Level 30 character. Hnnng.

Monk Unlocking, Requirements & Tips

Here’s a quick summary on unlocking Monk.

  • Quest: Brother from Another Mother
  • Location: Uldah – Steps of Nald (9,10)
  • NPC:
  • Requirements: Level30 Pugilist (PGL), and all class quests.
  • Aetheryte -> Aethernet:

New players who have the unexplained desire to punch stuff ASAP with MNK are in luck – it’s one of the original jobs so starting the game off as Pugilist (PGL) will allows you to hit it off in no time.

Ninja Unlocking, Requirements & Tips

Here’s a quick summary on unlocking Ninja.

  • Quest: Peasants by Day, Ninjas by Night
  • Location:  Limsa Lower Decks (8,16)
  • NPC:
  • Requirements: Level 30 Rogue (ROG), and all class quests.
  • Aetheryte / Aethernet:

New players wanting to live the NIN dream will want to get to Rogue (ROG) ASAP. However, you cannot start the game as rogue!

That being said Rogues need a relatively low unlock requirement (L10, and a low level MSQ). The most efficient choice for me personally is picking any other class that starts in Limsa, Marauder or Arcanist, then switch to Rogue when able.

Paladin Unlocking, Requirements & Tips

Here’s a quick summary on unlocking Paladin.

  • Quest: Paladin’s Pledge
  • Location: Uldah – Steps of Thal (9,11)
  • NPC:
  • Requirements: Level 30 Gladiator (GLD), and all class quests.
  • Aetheryte -> Aethernet:

New players wanting to star the game as PLD are lucky – it’s one of the original jobs! Simply starting the game as Gladiator will reinforce your path straight into the shield.

Reaper Unlocking, Requirements & Tips

Here’s a quick summary on unlocking Reaper.

  • Quest: The Killer Instinct
  • Location: Ul’dah – Steps of Nald (12.8, 8.6)
  • NPC: Flustered Attendant
  • Requirements: Level 70 DoW or DoM
  • Aetheryte / Aethernet: Ul’dah – Steps of Nald, Adventurer’s Guild

Since RPR unlocks at a high level with many skills, check out our Reaper initial skills, setup and rotation guide.

New players wanting to be up and coming edgelords rushing into Reaping might want to start as any melee DPS. Pick any starting melee DPS (Monk, Dragoon, or Ninja) as your goal, and unlock its base class (Pugilist, Lancer, or Rogue respectively).

Alternatively, if you want to reach L70 ASAP you can abuse tank or healer queues, but, I heavily suggest going for a similar role and job as the one you’re aspiring to me.

Red Mage Unlocking, Requirements & Tips

Here’s a quick summary on unlocking Red Mage.

  • Quest: Taking the Red
  • Location: Uldah – Steps of Thal (14,11)
  • NPC:
  • Requirements: Level 50 DoW or DoM
  • Aetheryte -> Aethernet:

New players itching to swashbuckle as RDM will have to level up another combat class to L50 first. While technically leveling a tank or healer would improve your speed I always recommend picking a similar class to kickstart your journey!

That being said, the closest thing would be Thaumaturge (THM) into Black Mage (BLM). From there, get to Red Mage!

Luckily RDM starts as L50 so you’ll pick up right where you left off.

Sage Unlocking, Requirements & Tips

Here’s a quick summary on unlocking Sage.

  • Quest: Sage’s Path
  • Location: Limsa Lominsa Lower Decks (9, 13)
  • NPC: Sharlayan Maiden
  • Requirements: Level 70 DoW or DoM
  • Aetheryte / Aethernet: Limsa Lominsa Lower Decks

Since SGE unlocks at a high level with many skills, check out our Sage initial skills, setup and rotation guide.

Rushing for Sage? Then you might wanna train up any other healer first until L70 then switching up to Sage. If you’re absolutely new then you’re going to want to start the game as one of the healer classes, Conjurer or Arcanist, which becomes White Mage and Schiolar Respectively.

Samurai Unlocking, Requirements & Tips

Here’s a quick summary on unlocking Samurai.

  • Quest: The Way of the Samurai
  • Location: Uldah – Steps of Nald (9,9)
  • NPC:
  • Requirements: Level 50 DoW or DoM
  • Aetheryte -> Aethernet:

New players wanting to train in the blade of SAM have to level up another combat class to Level 50 first… Technically, the fastest way is to level up a tank or healer to take advantage of faster queues –

BUT! I always advise going for a similar role on your journey. Pick any starting melee DPS (Monk, Dragoon, or Ninja) as your goal, and unlock its base class (Pugilist, Lancer, or Rogue respectively).

Luckily Samurai starts at L50 – right where you left off!

Scholar Unlocking, Requirements & Tips

Here’s a quick summary on unlocking Scholar.

  • Quest: Forgotten but Not Gone
  • Location: Limsa Lower Decks (4,11)
  • NPC:
  • Requirements: Level 30 Arcanist (ACN), and all class quests.
  • Aetheryte -> Aethernet:

New players strategizing their way to SCH should rest easy since it’s one of the original jobs! Starting out as an Arcanist (ACN) should put you right in the books to become a Scholar!

As an added bonus, SCHOLAR EXP IS SHARED WITH SUMMONER – so you can choose to pew pew when it suits you! (Soloing, for example).

Summoner Unlocking, Requirements & Tips

Here’s a quick summary on unlocking Summoner.

  • Quest: Austerities of Flame
  • Location: Limsa Lower Decks (4,11)
  • NPC:
  • Requirements: Level 30 Arcanist (ACN), and all class quests.
  • Aetheryte -> Aethernet:

New players wanting to control deez SMN pets are in luck. It’s one of the original jobs so starting the game as Arcanist (ACN) will put you right in control up to Summoner!

As an added bonus SUMMONER EXP IS SHARED WITH SCHOLAR, so you get a healer to boot!

Warrior Unlocking, Requirements & Tips

Here’s a quick summary on unlocking Warrior.

  • Quest: Pride and Duty (Will Take You…)
  • Location: Limsa Lominsa Upper Decks (11,6)
  • NPC:
  • Requirements: L30 Marauder (MRD), and all class quests.
  • Aetheryte -> Aethernet: Limsa Lominsa Lower Decks -> Marauders Guild.

New players itching to be an Axe-wielding WAR, fret not! It’s one of the original jobs so starting off as a Marauder (MRD) will put you in the right direction straight to Warrior!

White Mage Unlocking, Requirements & Tips

Here’s a quick summary on unlocking White Mage.

  • Quest: Seer Folly
  • Location: Old Gridania (6,10)
  • NPC:
  • Requirements: Level 30 Conjurer (CNJ), and all class quests.
  • Aetheryte -> Aethernet: New Gridania

New players who want to go straight to WHM are in luck. It’s one of the original jobs so simply starting your journey as a Conjurer (CNJ) will set you on the straight and narrow to White Mage!

DoH and DoL Jobs – Might as well put it here!

Just a quick addition here, if you’re trying to unlock all of ’em I’ll list ’em by location first.

Crafters (DoH) Disciple of the Hand
Limsa: Armorsmith, Blacksmith, Culinarian.
Ul’dah: Alchemist, Goldsmith, Weaver.
Gridania: Carpenter, Leatherworker.

Gatherers (DoL) Disciple of the Land)
Limsa: Fisher
Ul’dah: Miner
Gridania: Botanist

THAT’S IT FOR ALL JOB UNLOCKS!

I’ll be updating this guide with further supplemental info in the very near future, so stay tuned! GOOD LUCK UNLOCKING THOSE JOBS AND GETTING THOSE REQUIREMENTS!

5.3 Updates

  • Dwarf Beast Tribe quests added in ShB tier as a notable EXP source.
  • Ehll Tou added as Custom Delivery client option.

Previous updates

  • Kai Shirr added as Custom Delivery client option in ShB tier.
  • L70 to L80 section essentially revamped: New Skills & Rotations! 5.2ish was a clusterF. Skills changed TWICE in a short span of time. All is well now!
  • L70+ Gear recommendation:  Yellow Scrip gear is now recommended, for a number of reasons (Mainly, barely need stats for 70 to 80 leveling)

If you’ve been here before and need quick navigation:
LTW Level: [0-15] | [15-35] | [35-50]
[50-60] | [60-64] | [64-70] | [70-80]

So you decided to level up a Leatherworker ey!? Guildmaster Geva’s a tough one! Use our Leatherworking 01-50 leveling guide to help speed up the process!

Before you begin…

Where is the Leatherworker Guild? How to become a Leatherworker? You can become a Leatherworker by visiting the Leatherworkers’ Guild in Gridania. If you have at least L10 in any combat class – you’re on your way to fashion fandom!

Updating your Cooking Gear is quite important if you’re going to be crafting your own leve items. We have a Crafting Gear Guide to help you out on that.

Leatherworker Class Quest Item Reference:

LTW 01: Leather
LTW 05: 3x Leather Choker
LTW 10: 12x Hard Leather
LTW 15: Hard Leather Caligae & Hard Leather Choker

Levequest Items Discussion?

Every tier has 3 kinds of Leves:

  • [1]Single Submit Leves: Levemete & submission are just a short walk from each other.
  • [C]ourier Leves: Levemete is from the [H]ometown, to be submitted to the [L]ocal Levemete.
  • [R]epeatable Leves.

Notes: [1]Single and [3]Repeatable Leves (1 each) are from the [H]ometown, and [L]ocal levemete. [C]ourier leves will always give the Highest EXP per craft, but require alot of time, and travel costs. [3]epeatable leves will always give the Highest EXP per Leve. If you value your leves alot or don’t have many left, these are good. But, they are thrice as expensive. We will recommend the best [1] and [3] levequest(s) for every tier. Note that this depends on server prices and might not apply to you – so always check!  Also, a Precursor item means it requires a fully crafted item AS A MATERIAL – which is almost always BAD!

Ixal Beast Tribe Daily Quests: Bonus Crafting/DoH EXP !

Putting it here to remind or notify you that such a thing exists, but:

I SUGGEST USING THESE ON CRAFTERS L15+ (use on low level if forced)
Since the early levels are quite easy. (But you can unlock it asap)

Starting Quest: A Bad Bladder
NPC & Location: Scarlet at New Gridania (9, 11)
Prerequisite MSQ: Pursuit of the Past

These dailies are best used to push past “bad tiers”, or simply on your highest level non 50 crafter. I suppose you can also use them on crafting classes which are lagging behind for one reason or the other.

If you’re super fresh and have all low level crafters, and happen to unlock it early – you CAN do them now. While I don’t recommend it, I suppose it’s better than them just disappearing!

Leatherworker Level 1-15: The early levels

We DO NOT advise using “Regular” Leves for these low levels. Using Courier / Reverse Courier is the most efficient use of leves in these tiers:

Level 1: Leather Duckbills / 3x Leather [The Bannock] Level 5: Leather Mitts / Fingerless Leather Gloves [The Bannock] Level 10: Hard Leather Caligae / Hard Leather Hunting Belt [Bentbranch Meadows]

All of the above courier quests start from Gridania!

If you want to use spammy single submits…

LTW 1 Leve Recommendation: [H][1] – Leather Choker [The Bannock]
LTW 5 Leve Recommendation: [H][1] – Leather Himantes [Gridania]
LTW 10 Leve Recommendation: [H][1] – Hard Leather Caligae [The Bannock]

LTW Leveling Guide – Navigation: [0-15] | [15-35] | [35-50]
[50-60] | [60-64] | [64-70] | [70-80]

Use [C] levequests at your own discretion! Also, a Precursor item means it requires a fully crafted item AS A MATERIAL.

FFXIV Fishing Leveling Guide 1-80 (Shadowbringers UPDATED)

Shadowbringers UPDATED! How to level up Fishing Quickly!? Confused with Fishing Levequests? Looking for FIsh & Fishing Spots? Power Level your Fisher!

Bring the fish from the shadows to light! Catch onto Shadowbringers Fishing to 80!

FSH Leveling Navigation:
[01-15] | [15-35] | [35-50] | [50-55] | [55-60] | [60-70][70-80]

Key Info per section:

  • Fishing quest item & location.
  • Levequest fish and notes about them
  • If grinding, what’s the best fish/spot to farm? (Most useful)
  • Grinding summary per tier

Before you begin…

For those who haven’t even unlocked the fishing class: The Fisher’s Guild is in Limsa Lominsa.

To gain maximum EXP as a Fisher and level up fast, keep note of the following. Key points are: Choosing the right fish/spot/lure for you level. Also, Keeping key pieces of gear up to date (To up HQ chance, and reduce “got away”). Our Gathering Gear Guide is something you should keep open while leveling up: If you’re curious, here’s the equipment I prepared for my journey to 50.

Have a pile of Rabbit Pie (you can buy it from the Limsa food vendor in the market). If you can, pack some Jack-o-Lanterns, too.

Fishing Class Quest Items

For fishing, you might want to check the Market Board and buy up all the brainlessly cheap fish to make this a little bit less of a hassle. You can submit fish as quest requirements that are bought from NPC/Auction house!

Fisher 01: Lominsan Anchovy x 5
— (Right outside the guild, Bait: Lugworm)
Fisher 05: Harbor Herring x3
— (Right outside the guild, Bait: Pillbug)
Fisher 10: HQ Princess Trout

Fisher 15: Navigators Dagger  x5
— (Western La Noscea: Brewers Beacon, Bait: Rait Tail)
Fisher 20: Warmwater Trout  x5
— (Upper La Noscea – Oakwood, Bait: Crow Fly)
Fisher 25: Shadow Catfish
— (Fallgourd Float, Bait: Moth Pupa > Striped Goby > Shadow Catfish)

This tiers grinding summary (~1-15)

FromToMAXLocationMapBaitNotes
155Limsa Lower DecksLLLugwormCatches many relevant Levequest fish.
51010Murmur RillsNSHCrayfish BallThe absolute best spot in this tier. (Gridania->Yellow Serpent Gate)
101515SwiftperchWLNPillbugCatches many relevant Levequest fish.
152020AleportWLNRat TailNot many choices in this tier.
202326Yug'ram RiverETHButterworm( night ) 100% Black Eel. Just alt-tab during daytime :)

Fishing Level 1-5

Fishing Quest Level 1: Lominsan Anchovy x 5
Fishing Quest Level 5: Harbor Herring x 3
Level 1 Fishing Levequests:
Limsa Adventurers Guild & Red Rooster Stead.
Level 5 Fishing Levequests: Limsa Adventurers Guild & Red Rooster Stead.

Where to find Lominsan Anchovy & Harbor Herring? These can be found right outside the guild. The bait you use should be Lugworm and Pillbug respectively. I suggest just grinding it out here until you reach level 5. You would have caught 5x Lominsan Anchovy and 3x Harbor Herring by then.

Level 1 Levequest Fish
(?) 3 Merlthor Goby : Limsa Lominsa lower decks | Lugworm
(?) 3 Malm Kelp: ^
(?) 3 Lominsan Anchovy: ^
(?) 3 Finger Shrimp: ^

These are really… REALLY not worth doing EXP wise. But given how lazy I was (and other people surely) to muck around in lower levels, you can use these to speed the process up immensely. If you have 100 leves lying around… go for it!

FSH Level ~1-5 Grinding spots
Just fish around the front of the guild :) (See advice above). If you’re lazy just buy up 5x Lominsan Anchovy, 3x Harbor Herring, all the cheap Merlthor Gobies and Malm Kelps you can and just submit stuff to the Levequest guy.

Fishing Level 5-10

Fishing Quest Level 10: HQ Princess Trout
Level 5 Fishing Levequests:
Limsa Adventurers Guild & Red Rooster Stead.
Level 10 Fishing Levequests:
Western La Noscea, Swiftperch.

Where to find Princess Trout? In virtually any river you find in Middle La Noscea (Use Crayfish Ball). Exact rivers it can be found in: Nym, Rogue, West Agelyss and The Mourning Widow)

Level 5 Levequest Fish
(?) 3[9] Sea Cucumber [R] :
(?) 3 [9] Harbor Herring [R] :
(?) 3 Ocean Cloud :
(?) 3 Coral Butterfly :

I didn’t really bother looking for a good spot to fish these up since the grinding spot mentioned below far exceeds hunting for levequest fish in this tier. I feel that in this tier either you go out and grind it, or buy a pile of these fish off the MB and spam the levequests. Fishing these up just for submission straight up loses to the grinding option.

FSH Level ~5-10 Grinding spots

This may seem out of the way, but fishing in Murmur Rills (NSH) using Crayfish Ball is the absolute best and fastest spot to reach level 10!

Fishing Level 10-15

Fishing Quest Level 15: Navigators Dagger  x5
Level 10 Fishing Levequests:
 Western La Noscea, Swiftperch.
Level 15 Fishing Levequests:
Lower La Noscea, Moraby Drydocks.

Where to find Navigators Dagger? Use Rat Tails in Brewers Beacon, Western La Noscea. Fairly easy catch, no problems here.

FSH Level 10 Levequest fish
(?) 3 [9] Harbor Herring [R] : Swiftperch, WLN | Goby Ball
(?) 3 [9] Pebble Crab [R] : ^
(?) 3 Moraby Flounder : ^
(?) 3 Tiger Cod : ^

Swiftperch using Goby Ball has a small chance to get you ALL of the fish you need! Save the Rothlyt Oysters and White Corals – they’re used for the next tiers leves.

FSH Level ~10-15 Grinding spots

Thankfully, Swiftperch is the best choice for both leve-fishing AND grinding. Continuously fishing and submitting make this tier extremely fast to get through. No reason not to just sit your butt in Swiftperch and grind.

Pre-discussion notes: Hmm… I think I have a lot of work to do this patch, as well as improvements to overall guide structures so you guys can more easily find what you need. In any case 3.1 has been the most impactful patch in a while. This is the first iteration and I’ll be updating as I play this weekend.

New Duties & Other Activities

Diadem (Airship Exploratory Missions): Arguably the most important update. 210 gear with 4 substats can drop here…

Void Ark: 24 man raid which drops iLevel 200 gear. Some decent fillers can be gained here I guess.

Thordan EX: 8 man duty which drops 205 Weapons – pretty decent.

Vanu Beast Tribe: New beast tribe that eventually awards minions/mount.

Minion Battles: Starcraft like mini-game called “Lord of Verminion”. This is kinda legit!

2 New Dungeons: Required to unlock EXDR: St. Moraines Arboreum & Pharos Sirius Hard

My updates needed: Small guides for each, Void Ark, Minion Battles, Thordan EX, Vanu Vanu. I may not be making intense dungeon guides, maybe 1 page for both.

Combat Classes in General

Combat Class End-game:

Duties mentioned above: Diadem, Thordan, Void Ark, 2x Dungeons.

210 Mistbreak BiS: Every non-weapon BiS is now a 210 Mistbreak item (from Diadem) with 4 Sub-stats and decent amount of the stats you want. This is very “Diablo 3”, and while I don’t personally like it – it’s here anyway.

200 Fillers: From Void Ark. Isn’t is weird how this gear is invalidated the very same patch it’s implemented?

180 Fillers: Less reason to bother with crafted. Pink 180 is easier to obtain and cheaper. There’s so much filler in 3.1 that the expensive crafted gear is really a subpar option.

Gobcoat and Gobtwine: Now available weekly in Void Ark. Great to speed up 210 upgrades on ESO. You don’t need a quest to get the item (Mhachi Farthing), it automatically gets in to your inventory after doing your first weekly void ark.

Law for Materials: You can now use your Tomestones of Law to get crafting materials. 1800? A little steep, but law is pretty much worthless anyway.

My updates needed: A small update for BiS in each class, stating Mistbreak as BiS. Lol.

Combat Class Leveling up:

I haven’t noted down any significant changes in the pre-60 process. Please comment if you noticed any (I’ll be rechecking as well)

My updates needed: I actually haven’t finished all basic leveling guides for JOBS. Notably the three new ones.

DoL: Gatherers

DoL End-game:

NEW Red Scrip Items that are NOT UNSPOILED (Always up!): BUT DON’T APPEAR IN THE LIST ALWAYS. They don’t give a lot but, still! This is a legit “downtime maximization” update!

  • Miner: Eventide Jade (A random spawn in MANY nodes, so you can choose which you’d rather grind).
  • Botanist: Periwinkle (Same as above).

Unlike the “usual” method, you can save drinking Cordial until AFTER you’ve discovered them.

More yields for Red Scrip / Favor: Trading favor items for materials now gives three times the usual amount.

My updates needed: Make a scrip FARMING guide?

DoL leveling up:

NEW Blue Scrip items which are NOT UNSPOILED (Always up!): BUT DON’T APPEAR IN THE LIST ALWAYS. Like the red scrip counterpart, this is balanced by giving a smaller turn-in value.

  • Miner
    • Tektite (58+)
    • Fossilized Dragon Bone (56+)
    • Both in same node: Churning Mists – Landlord Colony.
  • Botany:
    • Cloud Mushroom (58+)
    • Wind Widow (56+)
    • Both in same node: Sea Of Clouds – Voor Sian Siran.

The main implication of this would be that these nodes would be the new go-to grinding nodes in 56+.

My updates needed: Update MIN BTN (FSH?) Leveling guides?

DoH: Crafters

DoH End-game:

NEW Red Scrip ‘tier’: They added a TINY red scrip turn-in for a “basic material”. This isn’t so bad, but you’d have to make a TON to cap. It’s cheap, but laborous.

New Crafting Recipes: Mainly consistent of glamour gear & Furniture. There’s also 185 Combat gear that… honestly… I don’t know who would use this. There’s so much filler gear in this patch…

Specialist Specific Recipes: Let me get back to you guys on this… But supposedly a few were implemented.

More yields for Red Scrip turn-ins, you now get more materials than we previously did for red scrips. Three times the amount, I think!

My updates needed: I don’t think these affect any existing guides. Again maybe I should make a scrip farming guide.

DoH leveling up:

New blue scrip tier that starts at 55 (maybe? I’m 60 on all DoH and wouldn’t know when these would initially show up). It’s an ok addition but the rewards are frickin SMALL.

My updates needed: Mention the above on the DoH Leveling guides. But I actually haven’t updated 3 of the DoH Leveling guides to 60. I may as well add that tiny blue scrip tier.

This guide will forever be updated, and it’s a great way for YOU to keep track of how to change your gameplay in each new patch, and a great way for ME to track what I have to update. Enjoy!

If I missed anything – feel free to let me know!

Key points:

  • The total stats of each race and subrace is equal at 120.
  • Character customization can pretty erase all cosmetic distinction between subraces. Choose whatever you want!
  • All races have a subrace which is more suited towards “Physical” classes, and a subrace more suted towards “Magical” classes.
  • Ultimately, as long as you chose appropriately and build properly, the small differences in starting stats accounts for much less than a 0.5% difference end-game.

So what are the decent choices?

Pugilists, Gladiators, Lancers, Marauders (Monk Paladin Dragoon Warrrior) : Sea Wolves, Highlanders, Wildwoods, Seekers, and Plainsfolk.

Conjurers, Thaumaturges and Arcanists (White Mage, Black Mage, Scholar, Summoner) : Hellsguard, Midlander, Duskwight, Keepers, Dunefolk.

Archers (Bard) : Wildwoods, Seekers, Keepers, and Plainsfolk.

Again, Each race has a subrace more suited to physical jobs, and a race more suitable to magic jobs. The recommendations above only serve as a general guideline. Since you can make one subrace almost look exactly like the other subrace, you might as well get the better stats.

Key Points:

  • The total Elemental Attributes of each god is equal at 313.
  • Gods are “paired”, and don’t seem to have any distinction between their counterpart. (Example: Halone, Menphina)
  • Each god pair has one high stat of 54, one secondary stat of 53, three tertiary stats of 52 and one neutral stat of 50.
  • Even if we assume 1 point equals 1% damage, the difference between picking for a 54 versus a 50 is only 0.3%.

So what are decent choices?

For now, and I think this won’t change, God choice doesn’t account for much. If it ever does, I’m sure there will be a way to change what god you worship. (Same with race)

FFXIV A Realm Reborn Race / God Summary:

All in all it seems right now that the choices for race and god are pretty much for flavor. However, there are some of us who want to squeeze every bit of juice out of our characters. Unfortunately, we do not have the kind of information right now to make a proper analysis on that.

Is this a good thing? Yes, I think it is. It doesn’t force people to be a certain race when playing a certain class, and allows people to pick whatever kind of look they like. It prevents people getting called names just because they didn’t “pick” properly.

**For Archiving purposes, we will be splitting this guide into two which will be found here(Racial Stat Info) and here(God Stat Info). We are more likely to update those two separate links. Also, updates on our knowledge of the stats here (General Stat Info).

Either way, we will be working on better informed Race/Class/Job/God combinations, information on each Stat, and more on Elemental Attributes. Subscribe so you won’t miss out! How? Just follow or like us on Facebook / Twitter! Thanks! and see you on Eorzea!

Determining the “best” starting race for Physical and Magical classes.

If you’re somewhat unsure of what exact advanced job you want to be, but want to generally chase either the physical or magical stats, this chart can help you choose your race.

See also: FFXIV A Realm Reborn Stats & Attributes Guide (Opens in new Tab)

Here we can make a few assumptions.

Highest overall physical racial stats: Hyur Highlanders (65). Followed by Sea Wolves tied with Seekers (63). Most STR based physical DPS or Offensive Tanks will want either of these races.

Highest overall magical racial stats: Lalafell Dunefolk (66). Followed by Keepers (64), then Hellsguard and Plainsfolk (62) tied at third. Any person who wants to go down the magical DPS or Healer route, these are the most viable races.

The safest most versatile picks with the least variance (No stat with +3/-3) are Midlanders (60-60), Duskwights (59-61), followed by Plainsfolk and Hellsguard (58-62). These are the best choices if you feel you need a mix of both PHYS and MAG stats. If you’re not sure which class you will main, these make a good choice.

Wildwood is the safest Archer/Bard/Machinist pick (Dex+3), followed by Seekers and Plainsfolk (Dex+2)

Highest Single Stat (base racial stats)

If you’re chasing a single stat, here’s a small rundown of which race offers the HIGHEST of any given stat, and which classes would most benefit from it (main stat).

MAIN STAT WANTED: Race with highest stat (Suggested classes > and Jobs)

STR: Hyur Highlander (Lancer Dragoon) (Pugilist Monk) (Offensive Tanks)
DEX: Elezen Wildwood (Archer Bard) (Rogue > Ninja) (Machinist)
VIT: Roegadyn Sea Wolves (Gladiator Paladin) (Marauder > Warrior) (Dark Knight) (Defensive Tanks)
INT: Elezen Duskwight (Thaumaturge >Black Mage) (Summoner)
MND: Miqot’e Keeper of the Moon (Conjurer White Mage) (Arcanists Scholars)
PIE: Lalafell Dunefolk (Arcanists Scholars) (Conjurer White Mage)

Maximizing Two Stats

So if you’re dead set on a MAIN class, or a certain way you want to build your character, knowing which class gives the highest of two combined stats can be huge. Here’s a table, followed by some information to help you choose. ENTRIES AFTER INT+PIE COLUMN ARE PROBABLY IRRELEVANT.

VIT is arguably the most important secondary stats for most classes. Each class has a main stat which improves their potency. VIT increases our defense which can be very important for raiding. Only very few classes can benefit from a third stat. Third stat usefulness is very rare and is mainly seen in healers (MND, PIE, VIT). Black Mages PIE (which is VERY SPECIFIC, and not all races need the adjustment). And lastly Tank DEX (Small but existent bonus).

Do racial stats even matter in FFXIV?

Very little. Some people will blatantly tell you “NO, THEY DON’T MATTER AT ALL!”, while I understand the sentiment, the truth still remains that there IS a difference no matter how TINY it is. These stats matter very little in the end-game but will not stop min-maxers or hardcore raiders. If you consider yourself part of this pile then here’s a few pointers:

Tank and Melee DPS Clear cut cases:
STR+VIT: Highlander tied with Sea Wolves. Good for any melee DPS or tank.
DEX+VIT: Highlander tied with Seeker. Good for Bards, Machinist and Ninja.

Caster Special cases:
INT+VIT: Duskwight. HOWEVER with low PIE which makes for poor BLM’s! Best for SMN’s! Also, caster Magic Resist negates the need for much VIT.
Black Mage: Dunefolk (BLACK MAGES HAVE A “MINIMUM PIETY”, watch out for low piety races!)
Summoner: Duskwight

Healer Special cases:
Healers (MND > Pie or Vit): Ah, a strange case. First of all caster Magic Resist negates the need for much VIT… so…
Good healer choices: Au Ra Raen make great balanced healers! Followed by…
—–> Dunefolk, Seeker, Hellsguard, Midlander…. Elezen make terrible healers…

MND+PIE: Keepers tied with Dunefolk. Overall good choice for healers. But these classes have the worst VIT of ALL RACES. However, caster Magic Resist negates the need for much VIT.

What do these stats do?

FFXIV A Realm Reborn Gods

A guide on the different gods in FFXIV a realm reborn and the stats they give – are they relevant?

Everything you need to know about the gods in ARR! The other choice given to us (without a table comparison) is god choice. Your choice of god will give you small bonus to Elemental Attributes.

Key Points:

  • The total Elemental Attributes of each god is equal at 330.

For now, God choice doesn’t account for much. The resists you gain from choosing whatever god are ultimately inconsequential. Choose whatever you want!

If these really do represent added elemental damage (which we doubt), Thaumaturges, Conjurers and eventually Arcanists might want to choose accordingly:
Conjurer: Nopica or Althyk (Earth and Wind)
Thaumaturge: Azeyma or Nald’thal (Fire and Ice)

If anything changes regarding gods, you’ll find that on this page. If these “attributes” are more than just resists, we will definitely find out. Make sure you subscribe to us so you wont miss out!
