Shadowbringers UPDATED! Alchemy Leveling to 80 in no time! ALC Levequest Items comparisons and value moves per tier!

ALC Leveling Guide 15-35

MIN & BTN Leveling Guides updated. Other notes...

Botanist Leveling to 90, as well as Miner Leveling to 90 are updated for the Endwalker tier. Older tiers needs some fixing, although I modernized what I could quickly – I placed the important notes on the top of the aforementioned guides reflecting the major things that you need to take note of.

I will post a personal update soon, for those that are curious…

ShB 5.3 UPDATED! Dwarf Beast Tribe and Ehll Tou

Recent Update Log

5.3 Updates

  • Dwarf Beast Tribe quests added in ShB tier as a notable EXP source.
  • Ehll Tou added as Custom Delivery client option.

Previous updates

  • Kai Shirr added as Custom Delivery client option in ShB tier.
  • L70 to L80 section essentially revamped: New Skills & Rotations! 5.2ish was a clusterF. Skills changed TWICE in a short span of time. All is well now!
  • L70+ Gear recommendation:  Yellow Scrip gear is now recommended, for a number of reasons (Mainly, barely need stats for 70 to 80 leveling)

“But Mahiko San – is that value?”
“If you had to ask – you wouldn’t have known either way”

Ixal Beast Tribe Daily Quests: Bonus Crafting/DoH EXP !

At L15+, the time is ripe to start doing these! The main purpose why I push for this is –

SAVING LEVEQUESTS!!!!
They’re valuable while leveling crafters!

Starting Quest: A Bad Bladder
NPC & Location: Scarlet at New Gridania (9, 11)
Prerequisite MSQ: Pursuit of the Past

These dailies are best used to push past “bad tiers”, or simply on your highest level non 50 crafter. I suppose you can also use them on crafting classes which are lagging behind for one reason or the other.

Alchemist Level 15 to 20

L15 ALC Class Quest Item: Potion of Intelligence, Potion of Dexterity
L15 ALC Leves [L]ocation: Camp Drybone| Ul’dah
L15 Alchemist Leves Items Discussion:

I won’t recommend using leves this tier, but if you choose to…

[H] 1x Ash Wand:  NPC BUYABLE MATS! (GFB from Housing area)
[H] 1x Engraved Hard Leather Grimoire: No.
[C] 3x Potion of Vitality: You might as well.
[RC] 3x Potion of Strength: You might as well.
[L] 3x Potion of Mind: NPC BUYABLE MATS!
[L] 1x Hard Leather Grimoire: NPC BUYABLE MATS!

Like in any 15 tier, there’s only 2 choices:

The Courier  <-> Reverse Courier cycle: This can be a bit annoying due to weird mats. (IE, Lavender, Goobue Fang, Yellow Yarzon Leg, White Scorpion). If you can find these 4 mats on the cheap – go for it.

Or the best single: Is probably going to be Ash Wand (But seriously, the savings are minimal and do whichever you want). Ash Wand is a single-craft which is good (unlike HL Grimoire wherein you craft the ink). Pick up the Growth Formulas and buy the Branches, then simply craft>submit until you’re 20.

Alchemist Level 20 to 25

L20 ALC Class Quest Item: Engraved Hard Leather Grimoire (Materia Enhanced)
L20 ALC Leves [L]ocation: Quarrymill | Ul’dah
L20 ALC Leves Items Discussion:

[H][R] 5x(15) Potion of Intelligence: NPC BUYABLE MATS!
[H] 1x Budding Ash Wand: Precursor. No.
[C] 3x Enchanted Silver Ink: Check material prices…
[L][R] 5(15)x Potion of Dexterity: NPC BUYABLE MATS!
[L] 3x Weak Silencing Potion: No, because the next has…
[L] 3x Weak Blinding Potion: NPC BUYABLE MATS!

L20 signals the death of [RC] and the welcoming of [R]. Sad, I know.

Triples: Both triples are cheap of the damn cheap. Potion of Dexterity is slightly cheaper and needs 1 less item. They’re all purchasable from the ALC supplier.

Courier: Hmm, both the materials are not buyable… this is chunky EXP and FAST (if you’re a lazy butt). Check prices before committing.

Singles: Scrap any ideas of the wand. To prevent hassling yourself, Weak Blinding Potion has all NPC buyable mats (but spread out).

In the end, I just manned up and did the triples. MANUALLY CRAFTING yields massive exp at this early point in your career – coupled with cheap mats… why not?

Exiting the L20 tier is the equivalent to the beginning of the wilds in terms of DoH leveling. Welcome to the “real part”.

Alchemist Level 25 to 30

L25 ALC Class Quest Item: (HQ) Natron
L25 ALC Leves [L]ocation: Quarrymill | Ul’dah
L25 ALC Leves Items Discussion:

[H][R] 3(9)x Goatskin Grimoire: Hi-Potion better.
[H] 3x Crab Oil: Buy ‘em or craft ‘em, it’ll be better than the other singles.
[C] 1x Clear Glass Lens: Volatile pricing but WORTH A LOOK.
[L][R] 5(15)x Hi-Potion: CHEAP.
[L] 1x Engraved Goatskin Grimoire: Precursor.
[L] 1x Whispering Ash Wand: Precursor.

Courier: If Natron and Silex are cheap or the actual HQ Clear Glass Lens off the MB (which isn’t uncommon), just do the courier this tier!

Singles: Don’t even think of the Grimoire or Wand – Crab Oil is where it’s at this tier. It will almost always win in all aspects (price, simplicity, location…).

Triples: Hi-Potion vs. Goatskin Grimoire… haha. No contest, the potion is cheaper hands down.

Well, this tier is quite simple, isn’t it? Every type of leve has a no-brainer choice. It’s basically “Value of Heavens” vs “Nolue of Hell”. Ultimately, I would recommend COURIER if at all possible.

Alchemist Level 30 to 35

L30 ALC Class Quest Item: (HQ) 3x Weak Blinding Potion
L30 ALC Leves [L]ocation: Costa Del Sol | Ul’dah
L30 ALC Leves Items Discussion:

[H][R] 5(15)x Horn Glue: Likely not as cheap as Growth Gamma.
[H] 3x Hi-Potion of Mind: Depends if you can find cheap mats…
[C] 3x Hi-Potion of Strength: 2/3rds from NPC! You only need: Gil Bun.
[L][R] 3(9)x Growth Formula Gamma: Likely best triple. (NPC buyable~)
[L] 3x Hi-Potion of Dexterity: Depends if you can find cheap mats.
[L] 3x Enchanted Mythril Ink:  This is very likely DIRT CHEAP.

Okay, so this is the last level tier that courier is “fast”. Hi-Potion of Strength is pretty value – I mean, you can pick up Blue Yarzon Leg and Rock Salt from NPC’s. You only need to check on Gil Bun. Abuse this before you miss it.

Triples: Growth Formula Gamma has 100% NPC buyable mats if you’ve unlocked Kobold Vendor (but they should be cheap off the MB anyway). Horn Glue… man… ultimately, pricing is too unstable. I marked Gamma as the triple of choice due to consistency. Also, GFG is easier to HQ and less time consuming (9v15).

Singles: Hi Potion of Mind has WEIRD MATS. Hi-Potion of Dexterity also has generally cheap mats – but then again, Enchanted Mythril Ink exists which will more consistently be cheapest. Only if you’re having a hard time HQing this should the potions become an option.

  1. Can rotations please be updated to reflect skills that no longer exist, as well as new ones, etc (I.e. Comfort Zone).

  2. Hello! Just a heads up: I am currently doing the Lanolin leves in Whitebrim, and the number has been reduced to 1 lanolin per delivery, making it a 3 craft triple-leve; which is basically *amazing*.

  3. I’d like to add something to help out other people who plans to grind out lvl 15-25 using leves. It’s late I know.
For level 15-25 leves, Ash Wand can be bought from the Merchant & Mender in Central Shroud, whereas the Budding Ash Wand can be bought from the same kind of NPC in East Shroud.

  4. I’m not sure where to leave this – there doesn’t seem to be any help or support section – but I can’t click to open any of the clickboxes in most (all?) of these leveling guides. I was able to a couple days ago. It’s not working for other friends I’ve asked to try, either. A little frustrating; I can’t see the macro recommendations anymore, among other things. This website has always been so great to help with leveling jobs, could someone look into fixing this?

  5. I have been following this guide and have gotten to 64 very easily but I have a small problem…
When I go to the page for 64-70 none of the drop down menus work! I don’t know if it’s just me but I checked on 3 different browsers and had a friend even try. All the other pages work just fine. Kinda bummed because I wanted to see what to get gear wise and what cross skills I’m supposed to “FIX UP” but I can’t.

Looking forward to getting on with my progession and your answer!

  6. Hello. First off, thank you so much for this guide. I have been following it to great success.

I have noticed that some of your quotation marks for the macros do not copy+paste well into FFXIV. I have to edit every single one in order to use them. I’m NA, so not sure if it’s different in the EU/JP locale? Not a big deal, but if you care, there it is. :)

    Thanks!!

      1. At least the 71 ALC macros were posted with smart punctuation, which the NA version apparently chokes on. Wasn’t hard to fix with a bit of search and replace in a text editor, but still confusing at first.

  7. I have a correction. On the alchemist level 50-60 page, there is this line:

“It’s now in Mor Dhona! Wiltaek (Revenants Toll) is your questgiver… and client!”

The NPC name is misspelled. It should be “Wiltwaek”.

  8. I know it’s early on in the class, but the materials for Roof Tiles are not all available from the Alchemy supplier. They don’t sell Straw (but you can take a quick Aethernet jaunt to the Weaver’s guild that does).

  9. Here’s a suggestion if you’re lazy like me, when you first get palace of the dead you need to spam that because it gives you HQ potions with needing to buy and it also lvls up your class for attacking so it’s a win win situation.

  10. (15-20 range) Ash Branches actually aren’t purchased from the Guild Supplier, only their logs are. But I heard something about unlocking materials…? It’s not there at-level, at least.

  11. Just wanted to throw this out there,

Lv30 Alchemist LeveQuest (Just Give Him a Serum), actually gives a little more EXP compared to the other Singles of the Lv35 Alchemist LeveQuest tier.

Just Give Him a Serum (47.8k EXP for NQ / 95.6k EXP for HQ)
Majority of Singles at Lv35 only gives roughly 41k EXP for NQ (with the exception of the Wand).

So IMO, I think it should also be in that tier considering the amount of EXP it gives and how easy the recipe is.

  12. at lvl 56 you can spam hardsilver ink collectables for cheap and fast exp, got to 60 in 2 hours and made enough blue scrips for my books

    1. Yes they should be HQ because even for class quests, if you turn in an HQ item it will give you DOUBLE the XP

  13. 53 ALC quest is HQ Enchanted Mythrite Ink (x3)
55 ALC quest is HQ Bottles of Grade 1 Intelligence Dissolvent (x3)
58 ALC quest is HQ Draconian Potion of Strength (x1)
60 ALC quest is HQ Noble Gold (x1)

  14. You might want to update the level-30-35 range that you can make Growth Formula Gamma with NPC bought materials… its just that you have to unlock them first…!
